8 Ways to Start Off Your Day In a Happy, Higher Vibrational Way
“How you start your day is how you live your day.” - Kristine Carlson
How do you start off your day? Is it with a clear mind, a calm heart, and a positive outlook? Or is it with racing thoughts and negative emotions due to the overwhelming amount of items on your to-do list? Maybe you just feel like, sometimes, your energy is off at 8 am?
Whether you already have a routine, or you spend your mornings rushing around, this is your reminder that intentionally connecting with the Inner Self- even just for 5 minutes a day- can set the tone for everything that follows. Here are 8 ways to start off your day in a happy, higher vibrational way.
An essential part of the Law of Attraction, which involves putting out into the universe what you wish to receive, is visualization. By first seeing it in the mind and feeling an emotion in the body, a vibration is created and inevitably magnetizes all the right people and experiences to match. So try visualizing how you want your day to go for 3 minutes before even getting out of bed! Imagine feeling good throughout work, dinner, and whatever else the day brings. You may surprise yourself with how your day mirrors the exact warmth and joy from your morning visualization exercise.
Breath work (known as “ pranayama” in yoga) involves intentional, voluntary breathing. It has many benefits including: energizing the body, and relieving stress, tension, and anxiety. Try the Ujjayi “victorious” breath, an ancient yogic technique that simultaneously energizes and calms you in the morning. When you wake up, sit in an upright position with your feet planted on the ground and back straight. Keep your mouth closed and gently tighten the throat while you inhale through the nose slowly, and exhale through the nose slowly. When done properly, it should sound like the ocean.
You don’t have to be in a buddhist temple to incorporate the practice of meditation into your morning ritual. Perhaps you only have 5 minutes to spare. That’s okay. To enter a meditative state, try setting an intention for your day, like “today, I choose to lead with love,” and then, close your eyes (whether sitting or lying down) and just focus on your breath and intention. If another thought crosses your mind, allow it to pass by just like clouds float across the sky.
4. Gratitude Journaling
Gratitude is a vibration! Staying grateful for what you already have invites more abundance into your life. What brings bliss into your life? Warm sunlight on your shoulders? Music? Your family? Write it down. Even waking up for another day is a miracle worth noting. There are no wrong answers, so try journaling about the things that make you happy, and it might just make you happier.
5. Glass of Warm Lemon Water
When you wake up, your body can be mildly dehydrated after fasting for several hours. Try a glass of warm lemon water, as it is both detoxifying and hydrating. The lemon is cleansing and can help reduce bloating throughout your day.
6. Walk in nature
If you live by a beach, lake or park, try a morning walk! The health benefits are countless, as walking in nature induces a relaxed mental and physical state. To walk in nature is to connect with the earth, and breathing in fresh air helps boost immunity.
7. Positive Affirmations
Try giving yourself a pep talk. “ I am” statements can change your life! Take some time to look in the mirror and list the things you like about yourself. You can even add things that aren’t true just yet, but you want for yourself. For example, even if you are not in the best place money-wise, affirm “I am economically stable and a money magnet.” ALWAYS focus on what you want, rather than what you don’t have.
8. Beauty Ritual
